About Us

The mission of the Legal Services of Eastern Michigan Fair Housing Center (LSEM FHC)
is to Affirmatively Further Fair Housing.

The FHC is a department of Legal Services of Eastern Michigan.  The FHC is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization that was established in Genesee County in October 1988 to address housing discrimination issues in the area. In 2004, the LSEM FHC was expanded to the LSEM Saginaw office to conduct fair housing testing in Saginaw, Bay, and Midland Counties, and to extend its full legal services to LSEM's 14-county coverage area.

The FHC seeks to assure equal access to housing without discrimination.  It does this through the full spectrum of fair housing services, including community education, outreach, analysis and research, advocacy, and direct legal representation (enforcement) for individual clients and in its own capacity on behalf of the public interest.
